Suckball returns!

If you think you know baseball, or especially if you DON’T, then read on.
Fantasy sports have exploded from a nerd-haven to a multi-billion dollar industry in the past few years, and so now every schmoe wants to talk your ear off about how great his fantasy team is.
But, anybody can pick good players; the really tough part is picking the worst players – and thus I point you to the 2009 version of Huckabay’s Annual Call to Keep Immobility Next to Godliness: Maximus Aggregatus Stiffisimus Sensire (HACKING MASS).
In addition to the intellectual stimulation of trying to figure out how exactly to put together the worst possible lineup, you have the excitement of winning a mint-condition, signed, framed photo reproduction of Commissioner of Major League Baseball Bud Selig*!!! Oh, and a $399 cash prize.

* The BP disclaimer: Photo and signature may be a “preprinted” reproduction, whatever that means, and in case we have trouble running down the photo we’ll sub in an item of similar value.

Here’s my lineup. I was originally going to go with Carlos Silva as one of my pitchers, but decided to go with more innings in Garland.

1B Lyle Overbay
2B Luis Castillo
3B Chone Figgins
SS Yuniesky Betancourt
LF Endy Chavez
CF Willy Taveras
RF Jeff Francoeur
P2 Barry Zito
P1 Jon Garland

That’s a good looking team. I ended up going with Garland, too, over Adam Eaton and Brian Moehler, since I’m worried about playing time for each… and it turns out that Moehler has a sprained MCL, so his 27.00 ERA may be intact, but with only four IP, that’s not a big help.
C Jason Kendall
1B Travis Ishikawa
2B David Eckstein
3B Chone Figgins
SS Elvis Andrus
LF Felix Pie
CF Willy Taveras
RF Ichiro Suzuki
P1 Jon Garland 26
P2 Jeff Suppan 27
I’m wondering if I’m going to regret Eckstein given his hot start, but my bigger concern is that the Friars fall out of contention early enough to warrant giving Matt Antonelli some serious PT. Castillo is a good choice but he’s brittle enough I decided to go another way.
If Francoeur can’t shake off last year then you’re golden, but his 8% improvement in O-Swing gave me pause; he doesn’t have to increase is slugging % to become a negative #.
Anyway, thanks for posting your team Jeremy, what’s your take on my guys?
