Test your IQ

Posted by Nathaniel.

Well, test it in a way that really doesn’t seem to match up with reality at all.

Here’s how to do it: go to www.iqleague.com and just start answering questions.

The problem is that as you answer more and more questions, it appears that your calculated IQ always goes down. I started at 127 and monotonically went down to 113. (I’ve used up all the questions now.)

The cool thing is that it ties your IQ to statistics that they can get about you. Apparently I’m the 12th smartest Mozilla on unix user in the world!

How many questions did you go through? I’ve gone through 60 and my score has oscillated twice (up-down-up-down-up), but I haven’t run out of questions yet. I wonder if the number of questions they’ll give you is a constant or a function of your trend in score, or of the variance. I don’t remember all the scores, but I’m at 117 now. The highest was about 127, lowest was about 112.

I’m not sure how many I went through, but it won’t let me do it anymore because I’ve used up all the questions.

The funny thing that I found was that my score directly depended on which computer I was using. With my laptop, I was about 15 points lower because it was taking so long to render each page and register my answers.

The highest I got is only 113 or so and that was right after a test with most math problem. All the question about bibles are too difficult for me…..

I wasted a lot of time with various IQ tests on the web yesterday. Then I bought a bottle of coke with a $20. The fact that my change was 3 $5s, 3 $1s, and 3 quarters almost blew my mind!

I too noticed that working from a laptop was a significant handicap, mostly due to slower pageloads (and perhaps poor touchpad skills)… I lost about 10 points compared to my desktop.
