Kirsten’s in Singapore at the moment and just spent an hour venting over the phone with me. Apparently there are some cultural differences.

The best part of the story was when the head of the business there decided to show her Singapore and then drove around for 2 hours showing the differences between all the brothels. Apparently there are big differences between the Chinese, Maylasian, and Indonesian prostitutes. Or it’s just a sign that Southeast Asia is really a very racist place.

The thing that I wonder about is whether it’s a normal part of business there to visit a brothel. I know that other places in Asia, you might send a prostitute to someone you’re doing business with just the same way that you’d take them to dinner. Of course, when that person is a female American executive, I’m not sure the same rules apply.

A little update on the ruckus in Alabama politics of late.

Yeah, we’re gettin’ it done back home, like y’all wouldn’t even believe. Got some swampland to sell you, too. Deep discount prices! Hah!

As a side note, I think I went to high school with the nephew of the guy who got decked, and there’s a small but decidedly non-zero chance that I’m distantly related to the guy that punched him.

Oh yeah, and I gotta give props to my mom for alerting me to this one. She always likes to remind me how bass-ackwards things tend to get back home on the local political scene.
