Question for the local photography guru:

Posted by John.

I don’t have a digital camera and am looking for a something in the range of $200-$250 with good quality pictures and not too many fancy options. I am not going to adjust anything besides zoom, etc so too many options would be lost on me.  What are some models that fit these criteria and you think are quality?

I don’t know if I’m the photography guru and I’m definitely not local. In general though, I think you can’t go wrong with a Canon point and shoot. You don’t really get to control anything except the zoom, but they’re well built and take a decent picture.

You need to decide whether you want one of the cigarette-pack sized ones or one of the slightly larger ones. At your price range, I’d probably go for a Powershot SD630. If you go up in price though, you could get one with image stabilization and that’s absolutely amazing. Ask Brian about it.
