Acrobat 8

Posted by Nathaniel.

Just so that people know, Adobe released a new version of Acrobat the other day and it seems much better than the previous version. When Acrobat 7 came out, it always pissed me off with how long it took to open. Acrobat 8 starts up amazingly fast.

It’s definitely worth checking out. Especially since it doesn’t cost anything. And it’s a standard of how to distribute text.

You mean the free trial? Is it really worthwhile? I’ve been content with Preview and being able to “print to .pdf”, but if you can convice me I’ll give it a shot.

The Acrobat Reader is completely free. I have to admit that 99% of the time I use Preview to look at pdfs, but occasionally you run into files that don’t render correctly and you need Acrobat Reader for that. On my machine, the new version seems to be a lot better.

Yeah, sorry, I wasn’t trying to say anything about the full version of Acrobat. I think that’s only useful at all if you’re trying to distribute forms and crap like that.
