does this require my input because i am australian or because i have the mind of a 6 year old?
can it be both?
to be honest, these guys are a little after my time. i’m not quite aware of the huge phenomona (phenomonum?) that they have become, although that article has enlightend me greatly. it’s been a tough year for aussieland. first stevo, now the wiggles… at least we’re kicking some pommy brit arse in the ashes this year.
I was going with the aussie thing, but whatever you say is good with me.
I wasn’t sure if these guys were after your time or what, but I figured you’d have some better idea than us nasty Americans who learned from the likes of Mr. Rogers, Sesame Street, etc.
Way to go on the cricket! Kicking Brit arse can always help overcome the adversities…
Don’t get me wrong, dude, I wasn’t about to knock Sesame Street.
My point was actually a subtle kind of irony: for us to have been raised on high-quality fare such as Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers, we’ve actually wound up a fairly rude-seeming bunch, on average.
Of course, since our image to outsiders is formed primarily on the basis of tourists, celebrities, and political leaders (most of whom come from at least one generation prior), the “ugly American” stereotype is a probably a poor approximation.
Maybe too many of us forgot our lessons learned from Sesame Street; I dunno…

From what I know of the 6-year-old demographic, this is pretty traumatic; they are/were pretty big Stateside, too.
I do have to differ, though, Tim – Sesame Street was (still is, on YouTube) pretty darn brilliant.
