Say it ain’t so, Theo

Posted by Michael.

Hopefully I’ll end up eating my words, but I really can’t see how the Red Sox acquiring J.D. Drew won’t go down as Top 5 Worst Ever Moves… certainly in Theo’s reign, if not the franchise’s history.  The guy is a huge injury risk and his agent is the devil incarnate.

Also, this means that the Sox absolutely have to sign Matsuzaka (also represented by Boras); there is no way they can’t give him enough $$ to pull off the deal.  ugh.

I’ve always been a believer that with baseball contracts, the number of years are more important than the number of dollars. Five years for this deal is way too many.

    Why are the Sox shortstop-shopping?

    Did we not keep Gonzo?

I got no problems with Lugo, but Gonzo was pretty good stuff, and worth holding onto, if you ask me…

Of course, maybe he got injured or something. I really lost track late in the season when we cycled through like 8 catchers or something ridiculous int he space of a week…
