Thinking about Sox tickets…

Monday, September 4th, 2006

So my company is sending me to Boston for training later in the month and I am probably going to buy some sox tickets.  I’ve never been to Fenway, what are some good areas to try and shoot for when I get tickets?  I think I am looking for seats about $30/seat.

ESPN: Full Circle

Monday, September 4th, 2006

Tonight (Miami vs Florida State) is the first time I’ve seen a football game on the system, having seen only the Duke-UNC game last February – I think it’s maybe a little better for basketball, but it’s still pretty slick.
(For those unfamiliar with the system, ESPN uses their whole network to cover one game, providing many different camera angles, announcers, etc.   In this instance, ESPN provides the main broadcast, with 8 camera angles on ESPN2, the skycam on ESPNU, etc.  Admittedly it’s partly a result of a weak schedule for competing broadcast options, the Monday before the NFL kicks off, but it makes for a good show nevertheless.   One of the problems with the duke-unc game was that ESPNU could have been better used on other simultaneous games, but tonight there’s really no competition.)

Just hangin’ out

Monday, September 4th, 2006

This was discussed last week (at lunch I think) but now CNN threw up an article on it – Brattleboro’s lack of a ban of public nudity and some people’s appreciation of that fact.  Some tight-asses have complained, but generally it’s pretty chill.  I like the quote at the bottom – “As soon as winter comes, there won’t be a story anymore,” said Town Clerk Annette Cappy.

Croc Hunter Dead??

Monday, September 4th, 2006

The Daily Telegraph out of Sydney is reporting that the Croc Hunter, Steve Irwin, has died in a freak accident, in which a stingray barb caught him in the chest. Irwin’s Australia Zoo has thus far been unavailable to comment. Is the Telegraph jumping the gun? Time will tell. Their proof:

“Ambulance officers confirmed they attended a reef fatality this morning at Batt Reef off Port Douglas.”

Irwin reportedly was in the Low Isles off Port Douglas filming an underwater documentary.
