So, I think there should be a poker game on September 16 or 17.

There could even be a visiting guest!

This definitely goes under geek. If you use X11 to do work remotely, you lose everything when you disconnect since the connection closes and you have to quit all the programs that you’re using. With the VNC though, you’re just looking at a picture of what’s going on on the machine, so disconnecting doesn’t do anything to it and you can just start back up the next morning.

Very cool.

I also figured out how to tunnel it through ssh, so now it’s even secure.

So, big thanks to Becky for helping me load up my car tonight.  But I STILL have one more car load left, so I have to come back again on Monday.  I’m getting so tired of driving!  I’ve already put over 1000 miles on Pippin in less than a week!  It’ll be another 1000 til I return to Milton, go hang out with my friend Em from college at her cabin in southern PA for the weekend, then drive back up here for the last of my stuff.  GAH!
