Winter, deliver me from this heat…
Tuesday, August 1st, 2006I’m sitting in my apartment, naked (nice mental image, right?) with the fans blasting me and the windows open and it’s still 92 F inside. Right now, I just want it to be winter…

Two interesting things that Baltimore people say.
1) Hon. Short for “honey” I think. Kirsten and I went to a 7-11 to get a slurpy last weekend and the [older] cashier managed to use it like 5 times over the course of two sentences. I just don’t understand why they spell it “hon” instead of “hun”. That’s the way I’d do it.
2) The correct way to say “Baltimore” is Bah-more. It’s almost like you make a sheep sound and then put a more on the end. Bahmore. So I actually live in Bahmore in Bahmore City county. (Yeah, that’s another fucked up thing.)
See you when you come to visit Bahmore, hon.
I have a new car! Mom just signed for it for me today. I got a silver 2005 Chevy Aveo hatchback for about $300 a month, for about 3.5 years. Now, I just need to get a job so I can keep paying Mom for it, since it’s in her name. The pic isn’t MY car, just a representative photo.
Thankfully, mine doesn’t have the optional rear spoiler (not seen in the photo, either), because, really, that’s just silly. It does have remote front locks and alarm, I think power windows, AC (presumably more than the “theoretical” AC Percy had. I swear, he came with an AC. I have the photo to prove it. Dad never used it while he owned the car, because the car wouldn’t go more than 40mph with it on, so it didn’t work til I got the car.), cd/mp3 player, and, most importantly, that 4th cylinder
Have to figure out a name for it, and decide whether it’ll be another “he” or maybe a “she”. I’m leaning to “he” at the moment, but I’ll have to see it in person.

Once again, I’d like to point your attention to opportunities to help out the Upper Valley Humane Society, from whom I got Mira. They’re having a Shop Shaw’s for Paws event August 5th at Shaw’s at the Powerhouse Mall and Upper Valley Plaza (I’m hazy, but I think these are the two different locations in West Leb?), where you can purchase items for the shelter inside and then donate them on your way out.
Also, Clarke Distributors, Inc. is doing a Pints 4 Paws campaign, in which shirts and glasses will be available for purchase at local restaurants, benefitting the shelter. Look for servers wearing Pints 4 Paws buttons at area restaurants in August and September.
Won’t you please help the animals? Just look at those faces!
