Home Runs

Thursday, June 1st, 2006

If you like home runs (and who doesn’t really?) you should check out Hit Tracker. It’s a site that tracks the velocity and launch angle of all the major league home runs hit this year and last year. They also have links to videos of the hits. Remember: chicks dig the long ball.

For the baseball fans…

This brief interview with the author of a book about big baseball blunders is mildly noteworthy, particularly for the Red Sox fans out there and for the proper use of the word unlucky.

FYI: Locked your keys in your car?

Thursday, June 1st, 2006  embarrassed

The Hanover Police Dept will break into your car and get them out, usually with no damage to anything. How do I know this? TWICE now I’ve had to have them do it. Don’t bother with S&S, they refer you to the police.

Picture This!

Just thought I’d post a few pics from hikes that we took during Sara’s visit over the holiday weekend.

On Monday morning, we hiked the fire tower and the ridge trails at Giles Mt in Norwich. After lunch at Molly’s with Nathaniel, Kirsten, and Nick, we hiked the trails at Quechee Gorge.

Tuesday included a hike up Mt Cardigan in Canaan, which I highly recommend, given the huge payoff for the minor effort required. The bald peak at Cardigan affords some spectacular views (and some serious wind!), even on a humid and hazy day like Tuesday. The hike up the West Ridge Trail involved a few consultations of the Dartmouth Outing Guide, but the views from the top are worth it. Also of interest: the still-active ranger tower atop Cardigan is solar-powered. Very cool. :)

Finally, I’d just like to say, even though I’m sure I’ll be in trouble with Sara over this one, that I’m really enjoying my new desktop background. :)
