Today’s drive

Posted by Nathaniel.

About 10 miles south of West Lebanon (yes, the absolute middle of nowhere) there was an airplane towing a banner that said “Illegals are criminals. Send them back!”

Around here, was the guy worried about illegal Canadians?

As a bit of context – today was National Immigrant Rights Day or something like that… there was a big rally on the green and march on town hall, so the plane was the counter-protest. We saw it at lunch – nice and cowardly to pay for a Cessna to tow a little bit of hate around, hmm.

Well, it was kind of funny without the context. It seemed like the intention was to advertise to trees.

Which is about as much sense as a hard-line anti-imigration stance takes anyway. I figured it out too, if we removed all the illegal immigrants there actually aren’t enough unemployed citizens to fill the jobs. Plus, not a lot of people want to pick apples, move heavy things, and generally do thankless labor for minimum wage.

apparently, the hate-plane was funded by the Dartmouth Review (the conservative student newspaper), interesting.
