The Upper Valley animal shelter is looking for stuffed toys, softscrub cleanser, shirts and towels. So if you’ve got a few bucks burning a hole in your pocket and feel like buying something to contribute, or have any towels or shirts you’d like to unload, holler, and I’ll collect some stuff to take over to them by the end of next week or so. If you’d like to buy some cheap stuffed toys, try k-mart or the aquarium place (which sometimes has stuff on sale/clearance). not so cheap toys can be found at the woof ‘n hoof (near the nugget) or the farm supply place just before the route 10/12a redlight (the store’s on 10) in west leb.

Well, not compared to antibiotics or finance reform, but if I could find a place nearby to do this, I would in a second.

As Nick commented at lunch (or sometime) the other day, they’re coming out with a $1,000 mint julep (complete with special commemorative gold-plated glass). “Mint from Morocco, ice from the Arctic Circle and sugar from the South Pacific will put this mint julep in a class of its own,” combined with Woodford Reserve, will be pretty tasty, but one grand per? It’s also a benefit for retired horses, if that makes it easier to justify.
