Slip-sliding

Wednesday, March 15th, 2006

Snow + warm ground = ice
parking lot – classes = empty lot
ice + empty lot = fun crazy driving

controlled spins are much better than uncontrolled ones.

The Corporation

Wednesday, March 15th, 2006

Saw the documentary “The Corporation” tonight. Decent film. It’s very much like a Michael Moore film, but probably done a bit more tastefully (not always great but tolerable) and with some people of better credibility. Definitely worth seeing… and maybe I’m just a hippie like that, but this kind of thing makes me feel good for not being a corporate office monkey, but also guilty for not being out trying to have a larger impact … Check it out if you feel obliged.

Full Moon over the McGraw-Hill

Wednesday, March 15th, 2006

Here’s a nice shot I got this morning with my improved digital camera that I bought off Nathaniel. Maybe at sunrise this morning, I’ll have a chance to try to get a green flash movie again, since it’s supposed to actually be nice and clear tonight.

Photo’s 1.4mb, and it won’t display right through the blog, so here’s the link.

What happened to….

Wednesday, March 15th, 2006

being able to watch music videos for free on iTunes? i’m very disappointed in them that they only do previews and want you to buy the video to see the whole thing. Come on, they’re charging as much for a 3 minute video as for an entire episode of a tv show.

The Ides of March Are Come

Wednesday, March 15th, 2006

but not yet gone.

Friends, bloggers, countrymen, lend me your eyes:

As the resident latin geek, I’d like to remind you all that today is the day that Caesar was murdered. Interesting fact: Caesar’s last words are said, not to be “Et tu, Brute?”, but “Kai su, technon?” Translation? “And you, child?”

By coincidence, I found last night on the bookshelves at the 1.3m a novel by Thornton Wilder entitled “The Ides of March.”

Wow

Wednesday, March 15th, 2006  thoughtful

Y’all ought to read this article from Newsweek on the death of a pet.

I found it to be moving and profound.

May we all be as willing to feel and to express those feelings as beautifully as Rabbi Gellman.

Subway

Wednesday, March 15th, 2006

I’m stuck at work because I need a faster computer, thus it was dinner in Hanover tonight.

Anyway, the big news is that Russell is back at Subway. Somewhat amazingly, despite the fact that he hasn’t made me a sandwich in many months, he remembered how I like my chicken teriyaki.

He’s working half time at Walmart and half time at Subway now but wants to go back to full time at Subway. He likes to talk.
