OwlCon XXV
Thursday, February 9th, 2006
Assuming Nathaniel doesn’t object, I’d like to use this little bit of blog-space to promote OwlCon, the annual gaming convention at Rice University, whose doors will open tomorrow at 6 PM.
OwlCon going into its 25th year stronger than ever, with prelminary indications that a new attendance record will be set, gobs of excellent prize support, cool gaming celebrity guests (Steve Jackson of Steve Jackson Games, a notable Rice alum), exciting new gaming events (including a free Halo 2 contest), and all-around awesomeness. And, let us not forget OwlCon’s continuing support of SEARCH, a charity organization based in Houston and focused entirely on the needs of folks who are right in their own backyard.
I haven’t helped with this OwlCon as much as I have the past three, nor do I have enough time to attend it this year, but my many friends who still make OwlCon the great event that it continues to be will be there in Houston, making sure the city’s gaming community is treated to another iteration of the area’s premiere gaming convention.
Best of luck to Angelo, Liz, Greg, Andy, Michael C., Reema, Rob, Kevin, Michael T., and all the other coordinators (better known as “Zealots” in OwlCon lingo). Wish I could be there to join in the fun!
