Since my suit size is a 42 extra long, I didn’t figure it would be easy to find a cord jacket. Getting sleeves the right length is tricky and you can’t really let out corduroy because you get marks in the pile from where the old seam was.
Needless to say, I wasn’t expecting much when I ordered a blazer from J. Crew. It was only $80 (”only” compared to the $500 one that I tried on at Nordstrom’s) and I figured I’d just return it after I tried it on once.
I should have ordered it earlier when there was more choice in color. Drat.
It fits perfectly. The only downside is that it’s “dark loden”: it’s not a bad green, but tan or brown might be a more useful color. I just spent 20 minutes on the phone with a J. Crew rep seeing if they could search the unseen cracks of the universe for just one more in my size in dark straw or chocolate. Crack searching turns out to be a difficult task… one that yields no answers for around 48 hours.
So I think I’ll wear the loden one to work tomorrow to get all y’all’s impression and then I’ll bitch about the fact that I should have ordered the “right” one earlier.
