well, i’ve made it back from kitt peak. and i must say, it’s so much nicer taking a 3 hour nap before driving down off the mountain. no bunny slalom this time! i left at 9:45am, so they were already finished throwing themselves under tires until dusk. i did see a tortoise and a snake, and a possible illegal immigrant. i’m not really sure. he definitely was hispanic. he was standing at the side of the road, not far from the mile 9 (!) marker on the road up the mountain, and was trying to hitchhike. presumably down the mountain, cuz he tried me. if he was associated with the obs, or even just a tourist, i can’t figure out why he would be trying to hitchhike.
thoughts on this day of travel:
1) the atlanta airport smells like feet.
2) i miss the dry desert air already
3) i can’t believe i paid over $20 to fill my freaking gas tank. 10 gallon tank, remember? and i didn’t even have to put the full 10 in! i paid 3.19 in manchester. just down the road, then i saw 3.15. even further down the road, 3.09! grr.
4) i’m currently the posterchild for caffeine overload. i’ve been severely limiting my caffeine intake, until this run. i had two sodas today on the planes, only that three hour nap this morning, and i’m AWAKE! i’m starting to get tired, though, because i’m trying to stay up to go pick up mira at 7am. so, naturally, as soon as you want to stay awake, you start getting sleepy.
