Local fauna

We seem to have a cute little garter snake living under the walkway from the garage to the house. I’ve seen him twice today: this morning when I took Mira out, I saw him vanish beneath the walkway quickly, and this evening, when I got home for dinner, I saw him chilling out up against the wall of the house. He’s pretty small, perhaps maybe the width of my pinky, and somewhere between 6 to 12 inches long.
This would explain why I haven’t seen the toad lately that had been living in the same place.
