Norwich Police report

Sunday, June 5th, 2005  annoyed

my my, these people are keeping busy. the same guy just pulled me over AGAIN on my way back from the chop. for my loud exhaust. he must’ve been the one i saw parked on the montshire road as i came down the off-ramp. dunno if he’s the same one i saw parked in that driveway with the dumpster in it on my way to the chop.

told him i’m trying to get it fixed, but they can’t get me in before next week. hopefully the rest of the police force doesn’t keep pulling me over until then.

Anyone else take offense to this?

In the June 2nd edition of the Dartmouth Review, in an article about Dartmouth students’ inability to answer general trivia such as “name three of the apostles (why should non-christians know them???)”, “Goethe wrote Faust”, etc. they talk about the lack of a good requirement to teach students how to write coherently.

here’s the excerpt i take exception to:

According to an internal report obtained by the Review, when students were surveyed about how effectively these required classes worked together, “it hadn’t occurred to them that these courses were indeed intended by the institution to constitute a coherent writing program.” And it’s little wonder when they’re taking classes like “The Colonization of Moon and Mars,” taught by a physics professor for their freshmen seminar.

Notice that last sentence.

3) you try to tar and zip a backup of a dvd to see if you can fit it on a single layer disk

alas, it doesn’t seem to be zipping. it’s been trying real hard for awhile now. i’ll let it go 10 more minutes, and see if it’s done.

Anyone else besides me interested in some of these shows down in Bellows Falls next weekend?

Roots on the River

Particularly the ones with the likes of Hayes Carll and Fred Eaglesmith?

mini golf + funeral home?

Sunday, June 5th, 2005

On the side of the mortuary, the funeral director has built a 9-hole mini golf course, utilizing coffins and skulls and a windmill… even better the course is in the basement, 6 feet under.

Apparently it’s free to play, although you can’t play while there’s a service going on upstairs.
