If you have 10 minutes, I think it’s worth it?
Wednesday, April 6th, 2005I don’t know if any of you have had occasion to witness Montgomery fully unload on someone, but let me tell you it’s quite a sight. Last Sunday he spoke at length on the destruction of Democracy as we know it… Sorry, I’ll shut up. It’s just kinda depressing to think about Jimmy Carter’s quote about “the next five years”.
(Or you can tell the bastards what you think in your own words…)
I’m pretty cool
Wednesday, April 6th, 2005There are two basic reasons why I’m cool today.
1) I’ve been having problems with the nameserver on my dsl line at my apartment, the lookups are taking way too long. Basically, you type in the name of the website, say www.chixwdix.com, and the dns server translates that into 192.168.45.38 and makes it so you can actually connect. My connection is nice and fast (1.5 Mbps) for the transfer, but the dns lookup is taking 20 seconds. So I just set up a caching nameserver so that I can run all my dns requests through my own server instead of relying on the problematic verizon one. (I think this is the problem, we’ll see when I actually get a chance to test it tonight.)
2) I just found and installed a program that will let me make nice contour plots. This is one of the main things that’s been holding me back in my work, so I’m good to go know.
Pretty cool.
