I had some cat “fun” last night and now have some sufficiently gory pictures to put up on the blog.

The Story: I was organizing some of my photos last night and ended up clearing off one level of my bookshelf. Of course, that made the empty shelf the most interesting thing in the world to the cats, particularly Ida since Helix is to fat to actually fit in the tiny space that was open. I didn’t think much of it until there was a huge scream or meows and hisses that came from the shelf. Helix and Ida had been playing when Ida put her foot between two of the boards on the shelf and got it stuck. Instead of staying still, she then twisted her body, completely trapping her leg. Helix took her hissing as a full-on attack and poofed up like a porcupine.

I was left with two choices, I could let Ida continue to struggle until she broke her leg or I could face the whirling dervish of claws, turn her body, and extract her leg from the shelf. I chose option two and lost relatively little blood.
